Colwyn Bay,North Wales - Conwy four-year-old subjected to foul-mouthed rant by Arriva bus driver, says furious mum

One of the responses from readers below, questions was the child being supervised or properly controlled by the mother? Also the language has yet to be proved, but my wife and I who are retired often travel on this route and the drivers have always been lovely. We have however often witnessed unsupervised children on the bus causing passengers and Drivers stress. This child should not have sat anywhere near a bell, and the parent should have ensured this.

The 36-year-old says her daughter was yelled at after she rang the bell twice

An autistic four-year-old was called a “stupid f***ing b*tch” and a “dumbarse” in a foul-mouthed rant by a bus driver, claims her furious mum.
The child was travelling between Conwy and Llysfaen with her mum when she says the driver yelled at the youngster for pressing the “stop” button twice.
The 36-year-old, who says she was also branded a “useless mother” by the driver, said her daughter has suffered nightmares and is scared to go on buses since the incident.
As the bus approached their stop at about 2.45pm on Saturday, the four-year-old pressed the button to let the driver know that she and her mother wanted to get off.
But her mum said things turned nasty when she pushed it for a second time.
“We were getting off at Penmaenhead in Old Colwyn,” she said.
“When my daughter pressed the stop button twice, the driver started shouting and swearing at her.
“He called her a ‘stupid f*****g b*tch’ and asked me why I had let her ring the bell twice.
“He then called me a ‘useless mother’ and told me to get my ‘dumbarse daughter’ off the bus.”
The mum says she then “lost it” with the driver, telling him not to shout at her daughter as she didn’t know what she had done wrong.
“None of the passengers did anything or said anything,” she said.
“They just sat there.
“My daughter has asked me ever since why ‘that man’ was shouting at her.
“We need to go on buses as I don’t drive, but she just doesn’t want to go on them any more.
“We had to go on one this morning, and I had to tell her that it wasn’t the same driver.
“We use that bus all the time. We’ve had the same driver before and there was never a problem.
“I told him I was going to report him to Arriva, but he told me he didn’t care.”
An Arriva spokesman said: “We are extremely concerned to hear of these allegations and an immediate investigation is being carried out, following which appropriate action will be taken.
“We sincerely apologise for any distress that may have been caused.”
