Newport,South Wales - Four teenagers and an Adult appear in court following Violent disturbances

Five people - including four teenagers - appeared before magistrates today

A man has appeared in court charged with violent disorder following a so-called “riot” in Newport’s Pill area.
Wearing a T-shirt reading “Just Do It” Gary Radford, 24, of Bowen Place, Newport , pleaded not guilty to the offence at Newport Magistrates Court today.
He will now appear at the city’s crown court on November 21.
Gwent Police have also charged a five others.
They are two 13-year-old boys, who will appear before magistrates on November 22, both charged with violent disorder. A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the same offence and will appear on the same day.
A 17-year-old girl has been charged with breaching a dispersal order and has been bailed to appear before magistrates on November 1.
A 20-year-old man has also been charged with breaching a dispersal order and has been bailed to appear before court on November 8.
None of the teenagers can be identified for legal reasons. A Dispersal Order will remain in place over the weekend.
Gwent Police have said extra officers will be deployed in Newport “to reassure residents and prevent further disorder.”
