Swansea,South Wales - Son forced his way into mum's home, assaulted her and her partner, then took her car and crashed it

Rhys Bowden was jailed for 40 months at Swansea Crown Court after pleaded guilty to 13 offences
A MAN who "took revenge" on his mother and her partner after they were granted a restraining order against him by breaking into their flat and assaulting them has been jailed.
Following the attack Rhys Bowden drove-off across Swansea in his mum's car — and crashed it into a wall.
His barrister told Swansea Crown Court that he "cares a great deal" for this mother — though the advocate conceded "his behaviour leaves a lot to be desired".
Paul Hobson, prosecuting, told the court that on the evening of August 23 Bowden went to his mother's flat in Swansea Marina, smashed the glass in the front door and forced his way in to the property.
His mother's partner confronted him, and Bowden began punching him in the head — he then became involved in a scuffle with his mother which led to her tumbling down some stairs.
The barrister said Bowden then grabbed the keys to his mother's car and drove off.
The 22-year-old was seen a short time later driving "erratically" along Oystermouth Road without lights on, and the court heard the witness was so concerned about the driving he called police.
Bowden was next seen in Gorseinon at around midnight, when he crashed the vehicle into a wall.
The court heard he got out of the car and pushed it back into the road before driving away — but police were soon on the scene, and stopped him on Gorseinon Road.
Bowden, of Rhondda Street, Mount Pleasant, pleaded guilty to 12 offences connected with the evening — including burglary, common assaults, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, breaching a restraining order and failing to provide analysis for a drug test — and to another count of criminal damage which related to a separate incident which saw him throwing a pair of garden sheers through the window of a house in Bonymaen, when he appeared in the dock.
The court heard the restraining order against Bowden had been put in place after he had been jailed for damaging tables and chairs at his mother's place of work, and damaging his mother's partner's car.
A statement from his mother read out in court said she "washed her hand" of her son and his nastiness towards her, and that when he was under the influence of drugs he was volatile and could not be reasoned with.
Ian Ibrahim, for Bowden, said his client "cares a great deal" for his mother — though the advocate accepted that Bowden's behaviour "leaves a lot to be desired".
Mr Ibrahim added that the defendant had been addicted to heroin such the age of 16, but that since being in custody since his arrest had been free of the drug and now "looks and sounds like a different person".
The court heard Bowden has previous convictions for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and possessing an offensive weapon — namely a baseball bat — burglary, and battery.
Judge Keith Thomas told Bowden he had carried out an "act of revenge" on his mother and her partner for their support of the prosecution which led to the restraining order, and he jailed him for a total of 40 months.
