Rhyl,North Wales - Man restrained on Rhyl bridge after turning on passers-by

Police tackled a man threatening to kill himself when he turned on passers-by in Rhyl this afternoon.
Officers were forced to take action after being called to the scene in the Denbighshire town at 3.40pm following a call from a worried witness fearing the man would harm himself.
On their arrival the man began headbutting a wall several times so viciously he injured himself. As the officers approached he then turned his attention on people nearby becoming increasingly aggressive.
He was taken to a nearby hospital for his bleeding head wounds.
The drama on Vale Road Bridge was revealed in a series of Tweets by North Wales Police earlier this evening.
Officers from NWP arrived at the scene but the male ran and self –harmed by head butting a wall several times causing a head injury
Whilst being dealt with by officers the male became agitated by passers-by and became aggressive
Concerned that the male may become violent or attempt to further self-harm, officers had no choice but to restrain the male for his safety

During the course of the incident the male self-harmed several times. The male was taken to hospital and is now safe and well
