The M4 has been closed due to a "police incident". The air ambulance has landed in the road.
The incident happened between junctions 24 and 25 on the M4 near Newport
The motorway was fully closed in both directions for the air ambulance to land but the eastbound carriageway has reopened.
Two out of three lanes remain closed on the westbound carriageway.
There is queueing traffic as a result of the incident between junction 24 and 25 near Newport.
The incident reportedly happened shortly after 8.30am.
Road fully reopen
The road is now fully open in both directions.
Man taken to hospital with 'serious injuries'
Just had a statement from Gwent Police.
A spokeswoman said: “At approx 8.20am Gwent Police were called to the M4 near to the Brynglas Tunnels westbound after concerns for a person’s safety. A man was taken to University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries.”
She added that the motorway had now fully re-opened.
Man taken to hospital
Welsh Ambulance Services were called to reports of an incident at around 8.25am.
A spokesman said: “A rapid response vehicle, an emergency ambulance and a BASICS doctor attended the scene and a man was taken to the University Hospital of Wales.”
Eastbound lane reopened
At 8.45am the motorway was fully closed in both directions and a 9.10am the eastbound lane was reopened.
Two lanes closed between J24 and J25
Two lanes are closed between J24 (Coldra) and J25 (Caerleon) westbound and congestions are stretching as far as J23a, Magor Services.

Diversion in place
There is a diversion south of Newport via the A48 Southern Distributor Road.
Air ambulance on the scene
It is being reported that an air ambulance is in the road and the road is closed in both directions.
One person taken to hospital
Police were called to reports of concerns for a person’s safety.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police has confirmed one person has been taken to hospital.
'Serious police incident'
The M4 between J24, Coldra, and J28, Tredegar Park, is closed in both directions.
There are reports that it is a “serious police incident”.
