A MAN was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Swansea city centre twice in the space of 24 hours, a court has heard.
A drunken Mark Clayden was initially arrested on Friday evening after going into the reception of Swansea Central police station - showing staff his prison release papers and a train ticket to Manchester - and banging on the windows.
The 52-year-old appeared in court the following day and was fined £40 — with justices taking his night in police cells in default of payment — and sent him on his way.
But that afternoon Clayden was seen on CCTV drinking alcohol and urinating in the street outside the Wilko shop in Plymouth Street.
When police approached he told them he had a knife and wanted to stab somebody and go to prison for 30 years - although he had no such weapon. He was arrested again.
Clayden, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly when he appeared before justices on Monday.
Craig Davies, for Clayden, said the defendant had moved back to his hometown of Swansea from Manchester after "multiple family bereavements", and was apologetic for his behaviour over the weekend.
Alun Williams, chairman of the bench, called urinating in the street "disgraceful", and said it was not the kind of thing visitors to the city centre wanted to see. He added that Clayden needed to get his life together.
Clayden was fined £60 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.
