Armed police executed a warrant at an address close to Mold Road
Officers swooped on an address at Yale Park, just off Mold Road with the road blocked off just after 4pm.
Reports nearby said police "quickly" descended on the scene.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in custody in Wrexham.
A spokesman for North Wales Police confirmed a firearms warrant had been executed and said a search was ongoing.
One police van was still on the scene at 5.45pm.
