Swansea,South Wales - Cocaine driver 'a danger to members of the the public'

The defendant appeared before Swansea Magistrates.
A MOTORIST stopped by police on Swansea Enterprise Zone was found to be three times the cocaine-driving limit, a court has heard.
Magistrates told Ricky Collins he had been a danger to other road users when he got behind the wheel after taking the drug.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard that Collins was seen by police driving along Fendrod Way in his Citroen DS3 in the early hours of August 6 — he initially sped away from officers but then pulled into the car park of the Fendrod pub and stopped.
Sharon Anderson, prosecuting, said Collins told officers he had taken cocaine, and a roadside test was administered — the 23-year-old failed it, and was arrested.
At Swansea Central police station a blood sample was taken and subsequent tests showed he had 32 micrograms of cocaine per litre of breath — the limit is 10 — and 200 micrograms of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, per litre of blood, the limit being 50.
Collins, of Heol Cadifor, Penlan, Swansea, pleaded guilty to driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above a specified limit when he appeared before justices.
A probation report into Collins said he had been with friends on the night in question before going home and watching TV — but when a friend rang him and asked for a lift, he made the "foolish decision" to get behind the wheel.
Alun Williams, chairman of the bench, said Collins had committed a "very, very, very serious offence" that had crossed the custody threshold.
Addressing the defendant Mr Williams told him: "Quite frankly, you were a danger to members of the public when driving that car."
Collins was sentenced to eight weeks in prison suspended for 12 months, and was disqualified from driving for 36 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 surcharge.
