Commuters are facing delays after a fire closed a railway line in Barmouth.
Firefighters were called to Barmouth Viaduct at 6am today and remain on the scene.
The wooden railway bridge has been closed while emergency services tackle the blaze and an assessment of the damage is undertaken.
The line between Tywyn and Barmouth has been closed and a bus replacement service is in operation.
A Network Rail spokesman said: “A fire on Barmouth Viaduct was reported at 6am this morning (Tuesday 4 October). Emergency services remain at the scene, and engineers are on site awaiting to assess the structure. The line between Tywyn and Barmouth is currently closed, with a bus replacement service in operation. The line will remain closed until an assessment can take place.”
Arriva Trains Wales has warned passengers to expect disruption until the end of the day.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to Barmouth Bridge at 6.06am today to extinguish a small fire.
“We sent one crew from Barmouth in attendance who are using a dry powder extinguisher.”
