TWO boys aged 14 and 12 appeared in court after alarming pupils who spotted them brandishing a Samurai sword and an air rifle outside a primary school.
A youth court at Llandudno heard that teachers and police were alerted after the drug-using younger boy swung the large sword, “pretending to cut up his friend.”
Prosecutor Diane Williams added that the unloaded rifle had been cocked and “fired” by the pal towards the direction of the  playground.
The 12-year-old admitted having the ornamental sword and air weapon in public last month.
Court chairman John Mortimer told him: “We are concerned about your drug use.”
A previous referral order for shoplifting was revoked and a youth rehabilitation order imposed for twelve months with supervision and a six weeks 8pm-8am curfew. Costs of £65 must be paid.
The elder boy, who admitted having an air rifle at Llandudno Junction, received a six-month referral order and his mother must pay a £15 surcharge.
Defence solicitor Andrew Hutchinson said both items were found in a scrapyard and his clients were messing around: “They understand people were alarmed and distressed by their actions,” he added.
