Kevin Thomas Jones was on licence for an earlier offence when he wounded friend in row over woman

A drunk stuck a glass into his friend’s head in an argument over a girl and then boasted about what he had done on Facebook.
Because Kevin Thomas Jones’ victim had decided not to pursue his complaint against him, the Facebook posts were virtually the only evidence against the 45-year-old Connah’s Quay man.
Jones, of River View, admitted a charge of wounding and was jailed for 18 months, having only recently been released from prison on licence from an earlier sentence for wounding.
The attack happened in February this year - a month after Jones was released. Both men had been at the home of a woman in Upper Bryn Road in Connah’s Quay, where they’d been drinking all night.
Jones smashed a pint glass into Thomas Lee Williams’ face, causing a deep cut to his temple. Judge Rhys Rowlands, sitting at Mold Crown Court, said if the glass had gone in an inch lower then Mr Williams could have lost an eye.
After the attack, Mr Williams’ girlfriend went onto Facebook and found what Jones had written. He had said he had stuck the glass into Mr Williams’ head, claiming he had been threatened that someone would be coming to get him, but writing that he was “harder” ... bring it on”.
“He effectively made admissions to delivering the blow,” the prosecutor said.
Philip Clemo, defending, said that his client had pleaded guilty at an early stage.
The prosecution evidence was light, although it was conceded that the evidence in terms of Jones’ own comments on Facebook was compelling.
Jones had admitted what he had done and had not tried to chance his arm before a jury.
He was thorough ashamed of what he had done to his friend in drink, which, Mr Clemo said, was a silly argument over a girl.
