A man who allegedly assaulted two police officers in Cardiff on Wednesday night has been charged with assault and criminal damage.

Owain Houston, 35, from the Whitchurch area of the city, has been charged following an alleged incident at an office in Park Place and alleged assaults on police officers, a spokesman for South Wales Police confirmed.

The incident is alleged to have occurred at the same time as that area of the city was cordoned off while police were dealing with a separate incident at the nearby NCP car park in Dumfries Place where a man spent several hours on the roof before being coaxed down and taken into custody.

Houston will appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Friday.
