These are the faces of some of the criminals put behind bars this week
Here are some of the criminals in prison this week after being sentenced at Welsh courts this week. They include a boxer convicted of killing a soldier on a night out in Brecon and a man who laughed as he beat up his girlfriend.
Jake Vallely
The amateur boxer who boasted of being the hardest man in Brecon has been sentenced to life with a minimum of 16 years behind bars for the murder of a young soldier.
Jake Vallely was last week convicted of the murder of Private Matthew Boyd, 20, of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, in the early hours of May 8.
Ieuan Smith
The Risca driver was jailed for causing “life-changing” injuries to a pedestrian and then trying to set fire to his car before falsely reporting it stolen.
The defendant struck pedestrian Leighton James at traffic lights on the B459 Risca Road while he was trying to overtake another car in Crosskeys, Caerphilly , just after midnight on May 15.
Alan Morris
The 33-year-old was jailed for 20 months at Mold Crown Court for wounding his 18-year-old girlfriend Alice Mierkalne. The court heard he laughed during the attack.
Liam Hatcher
The violent Cardiff man who blackmailed someone he met on a gay dating website was for five years. The 25-year-old, of Madoc Road, Tremorfa, threatened to tell police the man he had met online had raped him, unless the victim paid him £6,000.
