Caernarfon,North Wales - Castle walls daubed with bizarre graffiti

The words 'Magna Carta Article 61' have been smeared in red on the ancient monument

Graffiti has been daubed along the walls of Caernarfon Castle.
The words "Magna Carta Article 61” have been smeared in red on the ancient walls in a bizarre reference to "lawful rebellion".
The Magna Carta, or great charter was agreed to by the English King John in 1215 who was in dispute with the nobility.
Some scholars argue that it made the monarch subject to the common law of the land and protected individuals from the despotic rulers.
But just why the slogan has been painted in Caernafon is unclear, although the Daily Post has approached Gwynedd Council, CADW and North Wales Police for a comment
This is the third time in four months that vandals have targeted Caernarfon.
In September the words “council tax is slavery” were spray painted on the Eagles Hotel on Stryd y Degwm (Tithebarn Street) and a house and phone box on Llanbeblig Road.
A wall on Constantine Road and a road-sign near St Helen’s Road were then targeted less than a week later.
