Holywell,North Wales - Man who punched his MUM FIVE TIMES banned from approaching her for five years

Scott Ryan Simmonds, 27, of no fixed abode admitted flouting a restraining order not to go to mum's home

A Holywell man who punched his mother five times and assaulted her husband has been banned from approaching the couple for the next five years.
Judge Niclas Parry told defendant Scott Ryan Simmonds, 27, it was a sad case but they had his best interests at heart.
Simmonds of no fixed abode admitted breaching a restraining order, which runs out next month, not to go to their home in Woodfield Avenue.
He also admitted assaulting both his mother and her husband following an incident at the house when he refused to leave in November.
At Mold Crown Court today a five-year order was made not to go within 100 metres of the house and not to have any contact with them.
Judge Parry said that he made the order reluctantly but said that if things changed an application could be made to the court to have the order lifted.
Sentencing him, the judge told Simmonds: “Your poor parents.
“This is a sad case but arises from the fact that they have your best interests at heart.”
Knowing that there was an earlier restraining order, they had allowed the defendant to live with them in breach of that order because “they wanted to protect you.”
But he said “you breached that trust and love by assaulting both of them.”
The court heard how the mother had been punched five times and ended up with bruising and swelling to the eyes.
Gareth Roberts, prosecuting, said that the defendant had been released from custody some five weeks before the incident.
A two-year restraining order which was in place was due to expire next month.
The court heard how on November 19 he went to the bedroom and started shouting and was “not making any sense.”
His mother tried to defuse the situation and later asked him to leave, reminding him of the restraining order.
But he lost his temper and pushed her back onto the bed.
Her husband came upstairs, the defendant threatened to push him downstairs and the mother stood between them.
Simmonds pushed her and she landed on the floor.
The defendant said he was going to try and knock him downstairs.
Following a struggle her husband went out to phone the police and the defendant went after him at one stage.
He returned and when he saw his mother trying to raise the alarm he punched her five times as she screamed at him to get out of the house.
Dafydd Roberts, defending, told the court “drink is the problem here.”
While in Altcourse Prison he had engaged with the alcohol service.
He had been living with his parents despite the earlier order but he returned home drunk that day and the incident occurred.

Mr Roberts said: “He regrets the incident very much.”
