North Wales,UK - Police officers suffer broken bones in line of duty on Christmas Day

At least four officers were hurt on Sunday as a result of 'being assaulted or through attending incidents', said Chief Constable Mark Polin

Two North Wales Police officers suffered broken bones in the line of duty on Christmas Day as a number were injured.
At least four officers were hurt on Sunday as a result of "being assaulted or through attending incidents", said Chief Constable Mark Polin.
In a statement online, Chief Con Polin said the day was "generally peaceful" but officers were injured in "several incidents".
News of the injuries comes days after the Daily Post revealed there has been a rise in the number of North Wales Police officers assaulted on duty.
Statistics uncovered by a Freedom of Information request by the Daily Post show 303 PCs and PSCOs were assaulted while on duty between April 2015 and March 2016 - an average of six a week.
In the statement published today, Chief Con Polin said: "On Christmas Day a number of police officers were injured in several incidents.
"At least four officers were injured in the line of duty as a result of being assaulted or through attending incidents, with two of those officers receiving broken bones.
"The willingness to face adversity is something which police officers accept but injuries on duty, particularly during public holidays, are a reminder to us all that policing can be dangerous work.
"When colleagues are injured it affects us all in North Wales Police and impacts on the lives of our families and friends. Despite the risks and adversity faced by our officers and staff they continue to serve with pride."

Responding to the recent figures showing a rise in attacks on officers, Police and Crime Commissioner Arfon Jones said: “I was shocked to hear about the increase in assaults on police officers and I am making it a priority to find out what is behind this worrying trend.
“We really need to nip this issue in the bud. If people think they can get away with it, assaults on police will continue. We need to support our officers to enforce the law as robustly as it needs to be done."
