Police were called to the incident in the early hours of the morning
Two men have been arrested after another man was left with critical injuries.
Gwent Police said this morning that they were called to an "incident" in the village of Hafodyrynys at 3.43am on Tuesday.
A statement from the force said that a man had received serious injuries and is in a critical condition in hospital.
Two man, aged 35 and 32, have been arrested and are currently in custody.
The village is between Pontypool and Crumlin in Caerphilly county borough.
A spokesman for the police said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward if they have any information relating to this incident."
Any witnesses are asked to called 101 and quote log number 0101- 27/12/16.
