A member of staff at the Ely Conservative Club was injured during the armed robbery
A member of staff was injured after two men wearing balaclavas and armed with a hammer stole the cash takings from a Cardiff Conservative club.
The armed robbery happened at Ely Conservative Club on Cowbridge Road West at around 11.55pm on Saturday.
South Wales Police said the two men threatened a member of staff with what is believed to be a hammer type object.
The staff member was injured but not seriously during the attack.
The two robbers are described as wearing dark clothing and are of slim build.
A spokesman for the police said: "They have stolen the cash takings for the evening. The suspects have then left the club onto Cowbridge Road West but their direction of travel is not known."
Police have said that crash on the road just after midnight is not linked to the robbery.
They are now appealing for anyone with information or may have seen the two men in the area either before or after to get in touch with 101 quoting 1600486806.
