The train guard was left with a nose bleed and a split lip
A man punched a train guard, leaving him bleeding, when he discovered he had boarded the wrong train.
Police are appealing for information over the assault on the day Wales played Japan at the Principality Stadium in the autumn internationals.
The incident happened after a man boarded a train at Cardiff which was heading towards Bridgend , via Barry and Rhoose, at around 11pm on Saturday, November 19.
'He then punched the guard in the face'
During the journey, the man asked the guard where they were going and, when told he was on the wrong train, the man became “loud” and “aggressive”.
A statement from British Transport Police said: “He then punched the guard in the face, causing a split lip and a nose bleed.
“When the guard asked why he had done it, the man said: ‘Because you deserve it’.”
It is believed he was travelling to Pencoed.
British Transport Police is now appealing for witnesses to come forward after the assault.
