Prestatyn,North Wales - Man arrested after bomb squad and police search Prestatyn house released on bail

Residents were told to stay indoors and roads were closed as officers searched the property in Russell Drive on Friday

A man arrested on suspicion of firearm offences after police and bomb disposal experts were called to a Prestatyn house has been bailed.
Residents were told to stay indoors and roads were closed as officers searched the property in Russell Drive on Friday.
The man was arrested on suspicion of the possession of illegally held firearms.
Today, police said the man has been given conditional bail.
Officers were called to the house at 3pm on Friday and searched the property while a cordon was in place.
Six police vehicles, fire service vehicles and a van from the specialist bomb disposal unit were seen parked in the streets, along with forensics officers in bio-suits.
Police remained at the scene throughout the weekend, and the bomb disposal unit returned to the house amid a heavy police presence on Sunday.
The house had been undergoing renovations for a number of weeks.
Eyewitness Adam Jones lives directly opposite the property with his partner and two-year-old son.
He said he was alarmed to see bomb squad officers in the street and a police cordon.
“We got back at 6pm and the police had to radio through to let us back into our street and told us to stay indoors,” he said.
“We saw men in white forensic suits coming out with plastic bags full of possessions.
“It’s mainly elderly people who live down here.
“With a young child, we were really scared. When you see police and bomb disposal in your street, it’s really scary.”
Jackie Johnston, 36, was at home on Ceri Avenue with her 16-year-old daughter and three-year-old niece when she saw the drama unfold.
“They said there was nothing to worry about, but I put the baby to bed and thought should I stay or should I go,” she said.
“The policewoman said due to the nature of the call they had to come out.
“I asked if they had found anything but they didn’t say anything.

“It’s the children I am concerned about, so I rang around my friends just in case I needed somewhere to stay.”
