Pupils and parents at a Welsh comprehensive have been warned after a number of students were asked to share indecent images by someone they had befriended on Facebook.
A posting by staff at Sir Thomas Picton School in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire , said they have become aware of a number of recent incidents.
The post said: "We have been made aware that there have been a number of recent incidents of children and young people befriending a person they do not know through social media (namely Facebook) and being requested to share indecent images."
It went on to advise parents to be alert to the problem and to remind children not to befriend anyone they do not know on social media.
The post added: "If you become aware that your child has been the target of this person, report incidents to the police."
The NSPCC offers advice to parents on how to keep children safe online.

It says: "Talking to your child is the best way to help keep them safe. But with things changing all the time, it can be hard to keep up to date.
"You can always call our online safety helpline on 0808 8005002 to get advice on anything from the latest social networks to parental controls."
Earlier this year Welsh police revealed that a 14-year-old boy who sent a naked picture of himself to a schoolgirl on Snapchat was added to the police database.
Officers said he was one of soaring numbers of young people criminalised as the number of offences involving the possession of indecent images recorded by Welsh police has trebled over the last three years.
A freedom of information request by the NSPCC showed there were 1,321 indecent images offences over three years in Wales.
More than half that total, 738, was recorded during 2015 compared to 201 in 2013, although that figure is for only three of Wales’ four forces.
