A pensioner has been arrested following an incident at a pharmacy in Ammanford .
Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident at Garnant Vantage Pharmacy at 12.40pm.
Forensic police officers are at the scene and Cwmaman Surgery also cordoned off.
A police spokesperson said: “ Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault that occurred at Garnant Pharmacy, Cwmamman Road at approximately 12.40pm today.
“A 68-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and is in police custody. Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
“The pharmacy is closed until further notice, but the doctor’s surgery remains open. Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is asked to contact police by calling 101.”
Garnant county councillor Kevin Madge said: “As the mayor of Cwmamman I am shocked. You do not expect it to be in your own village.
“The forensics are there in masks and everything, when you see people in masks it’s really serious.
“They cordoned off the doctors’ surgery as well. It’s one of those things you do not see coming.”
