Ruthin,North Wales - 'Appalling' thugs attack elderly Ruthin woman in her own home

The victim in her 70s was treated in hospital after the incident in the early hours of Saturday

Two robbers left an elderly woman “traumatised” after attacking her in her own home in the early hours.
The victim in her 70s was treated in hospital for injuries she suffered after the men forced their way into her house in the Llys y Berllan area of Ruthin between 4am and 5am on Saturday.
High visibility patrols, house to house enquiries and searches through CCTV images are part of the police’s hunt for the raiders.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chris Bell, said: “I’m relieved to say she is now home and being cared for by family and friends but the incident has left her understandably traumatised.
“This was an appalling act against a defenceless lady and I’d ask anyone who was in the area to search their memories for any suspicious behaviour that can assist our investigation.
“From enquiries made so far I can say that two men entered the lady’s property.
“Both are about 30 years old. One is about 5’ 8" tall and of slim build, and was wearing beige trousers. He was clean shaven although he was wearing an item over his face. He didn’t have a local accent. His accomplice was stockier and wore dark clothing.”
Inspector Gareth Jones added: “Any piece of information, no matter how insignificant they think it is, may be the missing piece we are looking for.
"Crimes of this nature are extremely rare in the area and we have to ensure that remains so, but we can’t do this alone and we need assistance to help prevent these incidents in the first place.
