Flint,North Wales - Queensferry robbery: Man charged with attempted murder

Two men will appear before Flintshire Magistrates in connection with the robbery at Costcutter on Station Road

A man will appear in court today charged with attempted murder and robbery following an attack at a shop.
Police have also charged a second man with robbery following the incident at Costcutter in Queensferry on Thursday December 8, in which a 58-year-old man was stabbed and suffered serious injuries.
The two men were arrested shortly after the incident, which happened at 6.30pm at the Station Road store, and will appear before Flintshire Magistrates in Mold this morning.
Detectives say that the shopkeeper was working alone when the incident happened and he remains at the Countess of Chester Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
His condition has been described as “stable” and his family remain at his bedside.
Specially trained officers are also supporting the victim and his family.
DCI Neil Harrison of North Wales Police tweeted: “Two males tonight charged with robbery and one of the males also charged with attempt murder. Both in Mold Magistrates tomorrow morning (Saturday).”
He added: “Some excellent work and long hours from the team today securing charges of robbery and attempted murder. Flintshire is a safer place tonight.”

Yesterday, police issued an appeal urging a man who was in the store at the time to come forward.
DCI Harrison said: “This was a serious and violent attack on a lone shopkeeper, resulting in him receiving serious injuries.
“Our thoughts are with him and his family and specially trained officers have been appointed to support them.
“I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly a man who we believe was in the store at the time of the attack.
“This individual may be able to provide key evidence as we move the investigation forward."
He added: “I would like to thank the local community for all the support provided to date and to let them know that there will be police activity in the area throughout the day.
“Meanwhile, I wish to reassure the public that such incidents are rare and this is an isolated event.”
