Daniel Anthony Britel pleaded guilty to shoplifting and possessing Class C drugs when he appeared at Swansea Magistrates Court
A MAN arrested for stealing a bottle of Yves Saint Laurent fragrance was found to have a stash of tranquillisers in his house, including a powerful Russian Valium-like drug.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard that Daniel Anthony Britel was stopped by security guards as he left Debenham's in the city's Quadrant shopping centre with the £83 bottle of perfume hidden about his person.

He told police he had taken the fragrance because he owned money to somebody he refused to name.
When searched by officers he was found to be in possession of "large amount of money" — when asked by officers why he hadn't paid his debt with the cash, the 34-year-old said it was "pure greed", and that he didn't want to give his money away.
A subsequently search of his house in Landore found 33 Valium tablets and 14 Phenazepam tablets, a powerful tranquilliser originally developed in Russia in the 1970s.
Britel, of Mysydd Road, pleaded guilty to theft and to possessing the Class C drugs on a basis when he appeared before justices.
The court heard he has previous convictions for 19 offences, and was subject to a suspended sentence at the time of the perfume shoplifting.
John Allchurch, in mitigation, the tablets the police found had been left in the property by visitors. The solicitor said his client knew they were in his flat and was therefore guilty of possession, but that they weren't actually his.
Britel was fined a total of £320, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.
