Betws Y Coed The Royal Oak Hotel,North Wales - ,RPSCA probe into Betws y Coed hotel cat killing continues

The charity says it is treating death of animal "very seriously"

The RSPCA say it is continuing to investigate the killing of a cat at a Betws y Coed hotel.
The animal charity was drafted in after it emerged a feral cat was killed by two members of staff.
The employees have since been sacked and hotel manager, Glenn Evans apologised after the incident last Friday.
He said it had “posed a threat” and that workers tried for eight hours to capture it, but denied rumours it was beaten with a rolling pin.

A statement on the RSPCA Facebook page said: “You may have seen very worrying reports about the death of a cat in the Betws y Coed area.
“We wish to reassure you all that we are taking this matter very seriously, and are continuing to investigate these reports.
“As this is an on-going investigation, for legal reasons, we cannot comment any further at this time. However, we’d strongly urge any member of the public with additional information to contact our 24-hour cruelty line.”
Nearby resident, Mari Martin Matthews claims she had cared for the cat in recent weeks and had even given it the name, Cali.
She said it was around 16 weeks old and was “delicate like a ballerina.”

petition set up by animal lover , Shena Louise from Lincolnshire calling for the sacked employees to be prosecuted, has so far attracted 22,500 signatures in less than 24 hours.
The backlash has seen other workers at the hotel subjected to verbal abuse and violent threats, according to manager Glenn Evans.
In a statement released this morning, he said: “We have been deeply affected by the impact this has had on the village and the people who work and live here and can only apologise for the anxiety, frustration and hurt they have felt... We can now only look to supporting the team and revisiting the structure of the training and support whilst awaiting an outcome from the RSPCA.”

Mr Evans added: “We know it will take a lot of hard work to regain the public’s confidence in us.”
“We are very sorry we didn’t deal with this incident in the appropriate manner in the first instance and take full responsibility for that.”
