Residents are calling for an investigation after travellers set up a camp next to a Cardiff primary school.

More than 20 large caravans arrived and parked on football pitches adjacent to Pontprennau Primary School on Thursday evening.
Children are due back at the school on Monday for the start of the new school year.
Cardiff council and South Wales Police have been informed.

An eyewitness said the unauthorised camp was on a football pitch next to the school and a basketball court on Heol Pontprennau.

There are red signs dotted around the area saying 'Please Do Not Park On The Grass'.
In July, travellers were moved on from a camp that was set up in Caedelyn Park in Rhiwbina.
They left after a public order notice was served.
Cardiff Council has been approached for a comment.
Cardiff North MP Craig Williams said that a notice giving the travellers to leave the site within 24 hours should be issued today after welfare checks are carried out.

He added: "We are very grateful to the police for acting so quickly in this situation. I am happy to hear from any local residents who have concerns."
