A 44-year-old man has appeared in court on seven charges allegedly involving fraud and obtaining mortgages by making false claims, the total loans involved being more than a quarter of a million pounds.
Kurt De-Koning of Bron y Llan Road, Llysfaen, appeared before magistrates at Llandudno on Wednesday, September 22  and was bailed to appear at Caernarfon crown court next month.
John Wylde, prosecuting, alleged that the case involved obtaining mortgage loans by fraud, using the cash to buy properties then getting rental income.
Richard Williams, defending, said : “There has been a complicated and complex police investigation going on for two years.”
Charges date back to 2004 when it is claimed De-Koning obtained a £100,000 mortgage from Abbey National by falsely saying he was employed by Mostyn Estates and converting the money to acquire a house at Llysfaen; getting a loan of £87,000 from the Principality Building Society in 2009 by saying he had earned at least £17,000 in the preceding three years; in 2010 getting a £75,000 mortgage by claiming he had earned £20,000 in each of the last three years; in 2010 using £75,000 obtained by fraud to buy and rebuild a property at Llysfaen; between 2011 and last year receiving £176,000 in rental income from three “criminal properties”, one at Llysfaen and two at Llandudno; and between 2012-2014 possessing criminal property of £67,000, being undeclared income from a business called Sunset Boulevard.
