A SWANSEA Iraq veteran was caught with cannabis after 'behaving erratically' in a Carmarthenshire street during the early hours of the morning.
While appearing at Llanelli Magistrates' Court, Steven John Wain, of Millbrook Street, Plasmarl, pleaded guilty to possessing 1.05 grams of cannabis.
The court heard just after 1am on August 12, a member of the public called the police to say a man had been 'acting erratically' in the street at Colby Road, Burry Port.
They attended the scene, and were allowed into a property by 39-year-old Wain, before an ambulance was called.
While inside the property, they found a cannabis grinder, and a pouch of herbal cannabis. The drugs were identified by an experienced officer to the value of £13.12, the court heard.
On August 21, Wain voluntarily attended Llanelli Police Station and admitted cannabis possession during interview.
He said he would smoke it for medicinal use and pain relief.

The court heard Wain is subject to a suspended sentence order made in June.
Mitigating, Steve Lloyd stressed Wain had co-operated fully with the police.
"The matter is complicated because this offence places him in breach of a suspended sentence order which was imposed for driving while disqualified," Mr Lloyd said.
"This is a different offence but means it can be activated. I would ask you not to do so and I am pleased to have the support in this from Tim Jenkins of the probation service.
"Due to the defendant's hard work, he has the most senior manager in the firm here to support him and an excellent reference from one of the directors of the firm. It is incredible support from the company he works for in support of my application."
Mr Jenkins said Wain has been carrying out the unpaid hours requirement of his suspended sentence in an "exemplary way".
"He is a veteran of the Iraq war, which has not left him without some mental health issues, but it has not stood in his way," he said.
"Everything is in place for him to move his life on. His employers think so much of him that there is a driver at his disposal.
"I'm going to ask you not to activate the suspended sentence order — it is not in his interests."
Magistrates, who said they were "on the fence for some time", decided not to activate the suspended sentence order.
Instead, Wain has been given an extra 50 hours unpaid work to complete as part of his community order, and told to pay a £100 fine, £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge
