A Cardiff man arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences is still being held by police this morning.
A spokesman from the Metropolitan Police confirmed the man is still in custody.
On Thursday afternoon officers from the Metropolitan Police Services' Counter Terrorism Command arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist acts under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 (TACT).
The arrest, which took place on a street in Cardiff, was pre-planned and as a result of a pro-active investigation by the MPS Counter Terrorism Command supported by the Wales Extremism and Counter Terrorism Unit [WECTU].
Officers searched two addresses in Cardiff.
There was a heavy police presence in the Grangetown and Riverside areas of the city on Thursday evening - with officers from the Metropolitan Police standing guard.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said the matter was being handled by specialist officers from the Metropitan police unit.
