A SERIAL fraudster who admitted tricking people out of more than £300,000 by claiming she had cancer has been told she may be jailed.
Bethan Doci pleaded guilty to a string of deceits stretching from 2008 to 2013 when she appeared at Swansea Crown Court.
Prosecutor Catherine Richards had alleged the 38-year old had led people she met into believing she was suffering from the disease and acquiring money off them for treatment.
She began to cry as the 22 charges levelled against her were read out to the court.
Doci, from Phoebe Road, in the Copper Quarter, pleaded guilty to 11 charges and not guilty to another 11.
The prosecution opted to drop the charges she denied.
Among the guilty pleas were charges she had forged a doctor's letter and that she was going into police protection.
The long string of lies began as early as 2010, and in 2013 she kept the lie afloat by telling a victim the cancer had returned.
Judge Keith Thomas said: "In light of your guilty pleas the court is not going to continue to sentence you today. We want more information about you, a psychological report and a pre-sentence report.
"All sentencing options, including an immediate prison sentence, are open to the court."
Sentencing will take place during the week starting November 21.
Doci was bailed on the conditions she cooperated with probation services and kept in regular touch with her solicitors.
