Bangor,North Wales - Man arrested after Bangor hit and run leaves pedestrian seriously injured

A 33-year-old is in police custody following the crash on Holyhead Road

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was seriously hurt following a hit and run.
The male pedestrian was struck by a blue BMW on Holyhead Road in Upper Bangor just after 12noon.
The driver made off from the scene.
The injured pedestrian was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd by ambulance with serious injuries.
Officers immediately launched a hunt to find the driver of the BMW.
North Wales Police spokesman confirmed today that a 33-year-old man, from Bangor, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle and Section 18 wounding.
He currently remains in police custody.
The road was closed for nearly two hours while officers investigated and re-opened shortly after 2pm.
Police enquiries are ongoing and anybody who witnessed the collision is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via the live web chat, quoting reference number U148157.
