A man who hit the headlines after being found living in a cave on the Great Orme was in court accused of smearing a litter warden with dog faeces.
Raymond Burton, 53, is accused of common assault on the environmental patrol officer. A court heard Burton had been told to clean up after his pet, but that he instead wiped the mess on the man’s shirt.
But Burton claimed that he had stumbled and fallen towards officer Glen Walton and put his hand on his shoulder to break his fall.
CCTV footage from the patrolman’s body camera is likely to be played to to magistrates when the case goes to trial.
Burton appeared at a special weekend court after the incident on Friday, at Llandudno ’s North Shore. He pleaded not guilty both to the alleged common assault on Mr Walton and to shouting and swearing in breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from doing so.
Defence solicitor Chris Dawson told the court: “His account is that he stumbled and fell against the enforcement officer’s shoulder.”
Burton was allowed bail until later this week. The weekend court heard Burton - who the Daily Post found living in a cave on the Great Orme in 2014 - had been due to pick up the keys to a housing association flat today.
