A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder after 33-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were found dead in the street
The bodies of a man and a woman have been found on Cardiff's main shopping street.
Police are investigating whether they were stabbed.
Emergency services were called to Queen Street in the city centre just before 6am this morning, where the bodies of a 33-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were found.
Police said a 20-year-old man was arrested at an address in Castleton, between Cardiff and Newport and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this time.
A large part of the street was closed until just before 1pm as crime scene investigations took place.
A statement from South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police is investigating the deaths of a man and woman, following the discovery of two bodies in Queen Street Cardiff. Emergency Services attended the scene at approximately 5.50am on 28 September 2016.
"A man has been arrested and is currently in police custody and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this time. Further information will be released when available and appropriate."
Police confirm names of victims

The victims of the double murder which happened this morning on Queen Street in central Cardiff have been named as Zoe Morgan, 21, from Llandaff North and Lee Simmons, 33, from Grangetown.A 20 year old man from Castleton, Newport is has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held at Cardiff Bay police station.Specially trained family liaison officer s are supporting both families at this time.

Victims have been named locally
The man and woman found dead on Cardiff’s Queen Street have been named locally.
Lee Simmons, 33, and 21-year-old Zoe Morgan, both worked at the Matalan store.
Sales assistant, Lee, and Zoe, who worked as a visual merchandiser, were found dead at around 5.50am on Wednesday.
Police have been in the area all day
A woman in the Coach and Horses pub near the property said police had been in the lane “for hours”.
She said: “Police have been in and out all day using the facilities but they didn’t really tell us anything.”

A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said police had been stationed at the lane since around 6.30am.
Cordon has been lifted near Castleton property
The police cordon on a country lane just off the A48 between Cardiff and Newport has been lifted.
There is a large police presence at a property on the road.

Matalan CEO, Jason Hargreaves, said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm that there was a fatal stabbing in Queen Street, Cardiff, this morning.
“Police discovered the bodies of a man and a woman outside the premises at 6am and arrested one man who is currently in police custody.
“Both of the victims worked at our Cardiff branch so understandably all of our colleagues are receiving our full support. We request that they are given the space to deal with this at this difficult time.
“That is all we know at this stage and we are working tirelessly with the police in their investigations.

A large section of Queen Street has been cordoned off which is preventing public access to much of the pedestrianised area which is now being treated as a crime scene.
Chief Superintendent Belinda Davies, added: “The ongoing understanding and cooperation from the public and business community is very helpful. I would also like to appeal for people to be mindful that this is a very traumatic time for families involved in the incident and to use their better judgement when sharing and using images on social media. Our thoughts are with the families involved at this tragic time.”

'It was not a random assault'
Chief Superintendent Belinda Davies, said:
This incident occurred in the main shopping area in the heart of the city in rush hour and it has no doubt shocked the community of Cardiff. Please be reassured that we have a team of officers investigating what happened and importantly we have a suspect in custody and we are not looking for anybody else.We are in the very early stages of the investigation but I would like to add that at this stage we believe the suspect was known to the victims and it was not a random assault. I would like to dispel speculation circulating as to the motive behind this tragic incident and make it clear that this is not being linked to terrorism, and any links to the homeless community are unfounded.”
Police statement from South Wales Police
Police have issued a statement saying a 20-year-old man was arrested with the assistance of Gwent police officers, at an address in Castleton, within an hour of the incident being reported. He is currently detained in Cardiff Bay police station.
Police are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.
The identities of the two victims who both resided in Cardiff have been established and both families have been informed - they are being provided with support by South Wales Police at this time.
Post mortem examinations will be carried out to determine the causes of the deaths. At this stage it is believed that they sustained stab wounds.
It is being investigated by Major Crime and an incident room has been set up at Cardiff Central police station.
'Deeply shocked and saddened' by deaths
A spokeswoman for Boots said: “We’re deeply shocked and saddened by the incident that took place on Queen Street this morning, and our thoughts are with the families affected.
“We can confirm that we’re fully supporting the police with their investigation and that our store has now partially reopened via St David’s shopping centre, so that our patients can access their prescriptions.”
