A NORTH Wales man, jailed last year for attempting to incite a child to indulge in sexual activity over the internet, has today (Wednesday) received an extra three and a half year sentence for further serious sexual offending.
Defendant James Brennan, 46, appeared at Mold Crown Court via a live television link from HMW Castington.
A court heard how he had regular sex with a vulnerable school girl aged 15, who was more than half his age.
He admitted seven charges of sexual activity with a child including intercourse and one charge of attempting to perverting the course of justice after he wrote to a member of the girl’s family asking her to change her story.

Two other charges – one of sexual activity and a further charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice – which he denied, were allowed to remain on the file.
Judge Rhys Rowlands told Brennan, of Victoria Road in Prestatyn, that the three and a half year sentence would be served consecutively to a 32 month sentence he received last November.
Judge Rhys Rowlands told Brennan, of Victoria Road in Prestatyn, that the three and a half year sentence would be served consecutively to a 32 month sentence he received last November.
He had regular sex with the girl which he would have known was illegal, he said.
“You took advantage of her,” he said. She was vulnerable.
“There was a very large age difference. She was 15 and you were in your mid 40s.
“You were more than 30 years older than her,” the judge said.
Judge Rowlands said that he had to put himself in the position of the judge last November if he had known the totality of the offending.
He said that Brennan would remain on the sex offender register indefinitely.
Prosecuting barrister Matthew Dunford said that the defendant had regular sex with the schoolgirl over a three month period
Arrested and interviewed, he admitted what had gone on and said he was sorry for what he had done.
Jonathan Austin, defending, said that his client understood that his current earliest release date in March of next year would be extended significantly.
While in custody he had participated in a sex offender programme and he had volunteered those running the programme the offending for which he was now to be sentenced.
His early guilty plea meant that he had not put the girl through the additional ordeal of giving evidence in court.
He was apologetic and knew that it was no one else’s fault but his own.
(*) In November the court heard how he sent a photograph or his erect manhood over the internet to a person he believed was a girl of 15.
He engaged her in sexualised chat and asked her to send him some “naughty” photographs of herself.
But the court heard that it was not a girl he was having a conversation with – but a member of a group trawling the net to catch those who exploited youngsters.
The police were informed and Brennan was jailed for 32 months, and was ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for life.
He was made the subject of a ten year sexual harm prevention order to curb his future activities.
