The alleged attack happened on a train from Cardiff to Treherbet

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a train from Cardiff to Treherbert .
The victim was travelling with a friend on the 10.44pm Cardiff Central to Treherbert service on Friday, September 2, when police said she was repeatedly touched inappropriately by a man sat beside her.
Today, detectives launched an appeal in a bid to trace the person responsible and released a photo of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
Specifically, they are also very keen to hear from two people who were in the same carriage.

Detective Constable Chris Bolton said: “This was a shocking and distressing experience for this girl. No one should ever be subjected to this sort of behaviour and my priority is to make sure the person responsible is traced and brought to justice.
“Having conducted extensive enquiries into this incident, I would now like to appeal to any passengers who were on the train to please come forward. We are especially keen to hear from two people in particular.
“Firstly, we need to trace the man pictured - who is in his late 20s or early 30s, around 5ft 9in, and wore a black T-shirt and jacket, black jeans, and red Nike trainers. It is vitally important you contact police, as I am certain you will be able to help us with our enquiries.
“Secondly, a blonde woman approached the train guard at Treforest station expressing concern at the behaviour of one of the passengers. I would like to appeal to this person to please get in touch, as I believe you may have seen or heard something that could prove vital to this investigation.”
