Police have released footage of a police chase which led to a 17-year-old being sent to prison for a number of driving offences.
The teen was sentenced to six months in prison for drug driving, driving with no licence/insurance and dangerous driving after failing to stop in Newport .
The incident - which happened on July 2 - was captured on the officers' dashcam.
The footage shows PC Sean Meyrick driving along Bristol Street, when the teenage driver starts to speed up after noticing officers behind him.
Officers start to pursue the 17-year-old after he failed to stop.
'Outrageous'
The teen then leads them through residential streets, before reversing into PC Meyrick's police vehicle.
He is then removed from his car and arrested.
PC Sean Meyrick said: “The manner of driving displayed by this individual was outrageous.
"Many of the roads he was travelling along are in built up residential areas, with a 30mph limit.
"His total disregard for other road users and pedestrians was astonishing.
"We take a zero tolerance approach to anyone openly flouting the law in this way.”
