A PENSIONER was left in shock after discovering a masked man in her kitchen.
The shocking burglary happened at a home on Bryn Awelon in Buckley at about 9pm on Sunday.
The woman in her 60s, who does not want to be named, has been left shaken following the horrifying incident.
Her son, 36, says he feels sick to the pit of his stomach when he thinks about what might have happened.
“She seems to be dealing with it, but I think she is still shook up,” he said. “It was a terrifying incident.
“She came down and found a man wearing a balaclava in the kitchen.
“He told her to come outside, saying ‘I have got something to show you’.
“She just slammed the door shut and locked it. He had broken the lock on the window to get in.”
The burglar then fled the property empty-handed.
Footage of three men getting out of a car and then approaching the property was caught on a neighbour’s home security camera – which had yesterday been viewed on Facebook more than 16,000 times.
The woman’s son, who lives in Mold, added: “It is very concerning.
“The thought of her being outside with three men – she could have very easily been attacked.
“It makes me sick. I’m still in shock myself.”
A North Wales Police spokesman said: “The offender had entered the property via a rear window and he left empty-handed when he was disturbed.
“The man, who was wearing a balaclava over his face is described as having and Eastern European accent. He is believed to have left the area in a silver estate type car.
“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have seen someone acting in a suspicious manner in the area is asked to call PC 2735 Abigail O’Hara at Mold Police Station on 101 quoting reference U047780.
“Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or contact the control room direct via the new web live chat facility.”
