A psychiatrist has gone on trial accused of sexually abusing vulnerable patients in south Wales.
Dr Brian Harris, 77, worked for the NHS and in a private practice in Cardiff for 40 years.
He denies all 13 charges of sexual assault, indecent assault and rape against five men. The allegations are said to have taken place between 1991 and 2011.
The trial at Merthyr Crown Court is expected to last up to five weeks.
The jury heard the first of the alleged assaults took place in 1991 on a man who was a patient at Sully Hospital and the Amy Evans clinic in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.
A second man, who was recovering from brain damage, was said to have been assaulted at Sully Hospital the following year.
Ian Wright, prosecuting, said a third patient was "subject to a catalogue of serious sexual assaults including rape" during appointments at the Trealaw clinic in Rhondda Cynon Taff and at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital between 2009 and 2011.

Hi I was one of his victims, I understand the verdict because it was my word against his, inicent until proved guilty, his word against mine. The CPS had a QC on the case for 5 years, then taken ill at the last moment and replaced with a "Plonker" of a barrister Ian Wright. Even he could not totall mess everything up and Harris was found guilty on one charge but there was to be a retrial because the jury could not decide on six charges, suprise suprise over two years later and it is still to take place "WOW". I was mis diagnosed by Harris, I had just had a closed head injury where I pulled 22 G deceleration and swallowed my tongue and went several minutes before my tongue was removed from my throat and then resussetated. A MRI scan reveals scaring to my Brain, Harris always ignored the fact of my injury, and put me on Lithium, which damaged my Brain recovery. I was on it for 19 years then I came of it in 2010, I have been examined by a Neuro Psychiatrist who stated that I suffer no Psychiatric or Neuro Psychiatric syndrome. I want Justice, Harris was free with his hands when he told me to undress for a Physical examination, to me that was a one off but spending 19 years on Brain Zapping Lithium was not human. I have a lot more to say but I will leave it there, other than part of the NHS no what I went through was wrong, and part are scared to admit it.
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to do a interview with the whole thing, there was corruption from Toynton bottom and threatened journalists and had BBC, ITV and ibdependednt journalists threatened, good for this site to keep it up , please can anyone whose also lost their lives to this rapist and a corrupt judge affected.
DeleteHe tried to entrap me in my only consultation with him and then dismissed me as ´needing no help’ (I was in the first throes of a decade of depression). I knew there was something improper in his repeated and manipulative questions (e.g. was I in any way in danger of being ‘in trouble with the police?´, ‘was I hiding a guilty secret?’ - thankfully no, twice) but I was in such a state of mental distress it was beyond me to challenge him. I fear he might have planned on exploiting my vulnerable condition and I had a fortunate escape in that sense, but the sense of betrayal when I saw his trial announced, causing the penny to finally drop as it were, as well as the brutal dismissal of my condition and a deliberate attempt to destabilise me further as I left his home consulting room has left me with lasting ‘issues’ about mental health treatment in this country. I was forced to go to him because there was no adequate NHS provision (still isn’t) and because other ‘experts’ endorsed him (c. 2010/2011)
ReplyDeleteHi I'm Lee Lewsi, I was the one that took him to court on the beginning, all the charges except one was about me, he raped me for 4 years when I was in a hostel for mental health patients, he insisted that I was seen by him, he abused Mr knowing I was abused before by a teacher, then he saw I was a good vulnerable candidate to abuse, there was more witnesses and the police went cold, the Judge that handled the case got personally involved and threatened journalists and told them if they continued to write about the case or cover it in anyway, they'd loose their Internet sites and pissitions, he got off with the minimal charge of touching a health care support worker the barrister never spoke to me hardly the fay of the case, he never asked one question, his barrister was questioning ke forb2 days and I had him in nots, because I told him the truth I even mentioned his penos size to show the court dhow confident I was and I didn't know it went back to 1972, theu only went back to the 80s, the jury I believbwas hand picked to get him off, they treated him the victim not the pirprotrator , I was awarded 13.000 and the police took 3,6000 for a drug charge thay was placed in my place so they took the little amount I wad awarded off ke I never wanted the money I wanted justice for the gentleman thay had brain damage on the boat and others thay committed suicide this case stank of corruption, his own minister thay worked with him in the church gave him a character witness and this rapist was working in the church as a the treasurer, and has or had access to more young boys, I want to come out with all the people he's raped and abused, I'm no longer ashamed I want justice , he sodamised me, raped and abused me in every way possible psychologically and physically, I hadnto speak our due to the fact it ate me away and I thought we'd all have justice he's the worst preditor out there, because he knows how the mind works, he even pretended to be this old harmless man during the court case,, which I added he's not weal nor old did you see the way he slammed the door in temper when the journalists wes outside the courthouse, pulling the door with strength, they were all involved even the judge ad I mentioned, he threatened journalists careers, if you want to talk and get together I'm on YouTube and just comment back,
