FLY-TIPPERS in and around Wrexham could face prosecution, council officials have warned.
Environment officers at Wrexham Council have been investigating a spate of fly-tipping and littering offences in the Victoria Road car park area.
During the course of their investigations, the officers say they have found identifying paperwork and are now considering whether or not to issue fixed penalty notices or, in the case of the fly-tipping, call them in for interview prior to pursuing court action.
Cllr David A Bithell, lead member for the Environment and Transport, said:
“Fly-tipping is an offence that causes a blight in our communities and we are determined to clamp down on offenders.
“If we can identify those responsible we will not hesitate to prosecute and the courts can award fines of up to £50,000.
“Clearing up after fly-tipping and litter costs the council £1.2 million a year.
“That is money that could be invested in improvements to our services."
