These are the faces and the crimes of those sent to prison in the past month

Darren Machon

The burglar was left red-faced after his novelty underpants were held up in court and used as evidence against him. The 39-year-old, from Bridgend, was jailed for 34 months having been arrested for the burglary of a house in Park Street, Bridgend, in February.

The 21-year-old driver who was “coasting” before a crash which killed three passengers was jailed for 10 months after admitting three counts of causing death by careless driving. Ryan Paul Gibbons, 20, and Gethin Rhys Jones, 18, both from the Bargoed area, died at the scene in Aberdare Road, Merthyr Tydfil, on October 11 last year.

The father punched a dog breeder as he stole a puppy worth £1,200 and his son tried to take the blame. Elizabeth Swain from Abergavenny described how the attack turned her into an "absolute wreck".

Jamie Richards

Jamie Richards was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years at Swansea Crown Court
The hooded robber went on the run after holding a kitchen knife to the throat of a woman in her own house. He was locked up for nine-and-a-half years this month for the attack at the house in Ravenhill, Swansea, in February. His also knifed the woman's pet dog in the stomach.

Rhys Hobbs

He was sentenced to eight years for killing his partner Andrea Lewis in a "brutal and sustained" attack. The mother-of-two was found by police and paramedics "soaking wet and cold to the touch" and covered in bruises on the kitchen floor of a property in Tonna on the morning of January 30.

Demater was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the attempted rape in Cardiff Bay
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for an attempted rape in Cardiff Bay three years ago. Demater was arrested for an unconnected matter more than two years later in January 2016 when an officer noticed him acting suspiciously in Cardiff city centre.

Martin Rhys-Jones

The father of Gareth Bale's fiancée Emma was sentenced to six years in prison by a court in the United States at the end of the month. He was jailed after admitting money laundering in a $2.9m fraud earlier this year.

PC James Evans

The serving police officer was jailed for four years after having sex with a child rape victim he met online. The 26-year-old, who served in the Metropolitan Police, exchanged dozens of “sex talk” messages with the vulnerable 15-year-old schoolgirl on the Tinder dating app.

The robbers armed with a claw hammer and spanner burst into a flat and launched a savage attack on two men who were watching TV inside. One of the victims thought he was going to die during the attack in Llandrindod Wells.

The chef was jailed after setting another man’s head on fire with a home-made “flamethrower”. Paxton, 23, used an aerosol deodorant can and lighter in a late-night stunt - but the joke backfired as his victim was severely burnt.

Jailed for eight years for raping an “emotionally fragile” woman while she was asleep. The court heard how the victim, who was described as a “vulnerable woman”, was woken by the defendant raping her.

The 32-year-old, of Oxford Street, Pontycymer, was jailed for 48 weeks at Cardiff Crown Court after taking the car in Bridgend on July 10 while under the influence of heroin and Valium. A mum and her 11-month-old daughter were in the car at the time.

Karl Legg

The prolific criminal described by a judge as being responsible for “a one-man crime wave” was back behind bars this month. The court heard how he had broken into homes, stolen cars and even made off with £250 from a doctors’ surgery during a rampage around Cardiffearlier this year.

Jordan Rowlands

The nightclub worker who stole almost £70,000 from a popular Cardiff nightclub “in revenge” for having to work long hours fought back tears as he was sent to jail. The 23-year-old, from Gelligaer, had already admitted carrying out the theft from his employers, 90s-themed establishment Retro in Mill Lane.

The man who lured somebody he met on an internet dating site to Neath then pulled an air pistol on him in a convenience store car park.
Swansea Crown Court heard that Roderick contacted a man from Bristol on the site FabSwingers, and after a day of messaging between them he invited him to Cimla, sending him a post code to drive to.

The drug-dealing asylum seeker who said he had to flee Iran after speaking out against the government was jailed for trying to sell cannabis on the streets of Cardiff .

Ross Mccaddon

The Barry burglar was arrested after leaving his blood at the scene of his crime and was jailed for two years at the start of August. Cables and power tools worth almost £10,000 were taken from a house undergoing repair work.
