A girl has allegedly been assaulted by a man as she tried to rescue a kitten from drowning in a pond.
The alleged incident happened on August 26 at a pond behind Adventure Playground off Gwynfryn Avenue in Rhyl .
A man has been arrested and released on bail pending further inquiries.
North Wales Police are appealing to a dog walker, who they believe tried to help the girl rescue the kitten, or any other witness to come forward.
PC Ella Evans said: "Extensive enquiries have led us to believe that a female dog walker tried to assist the victim by rescuing the kitten however she was unsuccessful and the kitten subsequently died.
"The woman had two white Yorkshire Terrier type dogs with her at the time and is known to be a frequent walker in the area.
"We are eager to locate this female and speak with her or anyone else who may have witnessed this incident as the spot where it occurred is a popular location for dogs walkers, runners etc."
Anyone who was in the area at the time are urged to contact Sgt Ratcliffe at Rhyl Police Station on 101 quoting reference RC16129073.
