A SWANSEA Valley man who shouted obscenities at police before kicking a sergeant in the leg has been fined.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard that police had been called to the Farmers Arms pub in Clydach just after midnight on March 13 to deal with two customers who were shouting and swearing at each other.

Police told one of the men to calm down and leave — which he did — but then the second man, Jonathan James Brown, approached the PC and said didn't like the police, and hand't done since his days in the Army.
The 31-year-old then began shouting obscenities at the officer and and the landlady asked the PC to remove him from the premises - Brown was taken outside and told to go home.
However the bad language and shouting continued, and when backup arrived Brown was "placed on the floor and restrained" and arrested. He was taken into custody where he subsequently lashed out at a sergeant, kicking the officer in the shin and causing a 2cm cut.
Brown, of Penywern Road, Clydach, pleaded guilty to a public order offence and to assaulting a police officer when he appeared before District Judge Neil Thomas sitting at the magistrates court.

Paul Jackson, in mitigation, said the police officers who arrested his client hadn't double-locked the handcuffs which meant they kept tightening and causing him pain, something which led to home becoming increasingly agitated and then kicking out.
The solicitor said the defendant wanted to apologise to the officers involved.
The District Judge told Brown he was "entirely the author of his own misfortune" and had to understand that assaulting a police officer in the course of his duties was a serious matter.
Brown was fined £75 for the public order offence and £150 for the assault, and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.
