Llandudno Magistrates Court
A drunken man who ran from police after damaging a door at a seaside pub had dropped a knife just before a PC detained him, a court heard yesterday (Tuesday, April 05).
Paul Sherwood, 21, of Bryn Eglwys, Rhos on Sea, admitted having a throwing knife in Penrhyn Avenue, Rhos on Sea, and damaging the door at the nearby Cayley Arms on March 20. The prosecution said he and a friend had been ejected from the pub that night and Sherwood accepted the damage was caused recklessly when he kicked the door.
Magistrates at Llandudno committed him on bail for sentencing at Caernarfon crown court on April 29. The court chairwoman said he went out “forearmed and under the influence of alcohol.”
Defence solicitor Elen Parry said the pal had been in a row about a 40p packet of Rizla cigarette rolling papers. Sherwood claimed the knife fell from his coat pocket although police maintained it dropped from his hand.
