A MAN was seriously injured after being attacked by four males in New Broughton.

The 23-year-old local man suffered a serious, but non-life threatening, facial injury following the incident in the Bryn Awel/Coed Efa area of New Broughton at around 2.30am today.

He was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital where  he continues to receive treatment.

A 27-year-old man is currently in custody at Wrexham police station in connection with the assault.

Detective Constable Donna Rigney said: “This was a particularly nasty incident and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed it, or who may have information which will help the investigation, to contact Wrexham CID on 101 quoting reference RC16132419.”
