Thieves targeted the property on Brig y Don near The Ffrith in Prestatyn in the early morning
A family have been left “devastated” after four off-road bikes worth nearly £8,000 were stolen from their shed.
Thieves targeted the property on Brig y Don near The Ffrith in Prestatyn some time between 12am and 6am on Wednesday morning, September 14.
The victims, who do not want to be named, said: “We live on a very quiet street and I can’t believe we didn’t hear anything.
“It seems the thieves knew exactly what they wanted and were determined to get the bikes.
“If they didn’t get them that night, they would have come back to try again.
“We presume there were at least three or four people. They broke a chain and two padlocks to get to them, and also stole a tool box.
“The house insurance won’t cover the loss so we have lost nearly £8,000.
“One of them belonged to a nine-year-old who loved going out with his step-dad on their bikes together. He is really upset. It’s heartbreaking.
“We haven’t been able to sleep since, in case they come back.
“It has really affected us emotionally due to the invasion of privacy as well as financially.
“Prestatyn has a great sense of community so it is a real shame it happened here.
“I hope we can find the bikes and the people responsible. We wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else.
“We are offering a cash reward for information leading to us recovering the bikes.”
The dirt bike models that were taken were a Kawasaki KX250 2003, Suzuki RM250 2006, KTM 250 2008 and a KTM 65 2007.
A North Wales Police spokesman said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“We are appealing for anyone with information to call police on 101, quoting incident reference number RC16139826,” he said.
