Pentre, Rhondda,South Wales - Man covers himself in petrol and sets himself on fire

The man has been in hospital with 'life changing or possibly life threatening injuries' since the incident at a petrol station

Stomach-churning moment a man appears to cover himself in petrol then set himself alight at a petrol station.
The man, who was left with 'life changing or possibly life threatening injuries', was captured on CCTV at the Texaco service station on Llewellyn Street in Pentre, Rhondda, on April 2.
He is seen approaching a pump before pouring petrol on to the floor and himself.

He then bends down and sets himself alight.

He is being treated at Morriston Hospital Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit for burns to his body - mainly his legs and hand.
Crews from Treorchy and Tonypandy attended the fire, using a hose reel and a trauma pack to treat the man.

Life changing injuries

After the incident, a bouncer from a nearby club said: “I saw the man burning on the other side of the road. At first, I thought it was a pile of clothes but a couple of girls came up from that direction and they were shaking.

“The fire crew were pulling up as I was talking to the girls and police were quick on the scene and everything was blocked off then and I went back in the club.”
South Wales Police are continuing to investigate the incident
