South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire at the disused Glyn Derw High School building in Ely at 10.10pm on Thursday

A huge fire which tore through a disused Cardiff school was started deliberately.
Thirteen fire engines and more than 60 firefighters were called to the fire at the disused Glyn Derw High School in Ely at 10.10pm on Thursday night.
The fire service was called to that scene after more than 50 had been involved in fightinganother major fire which destroyed a warehouse on Cardiff's City Road.
The fire service said no people were reported to be in the school at the time and no injuries were reported.

The fire spread across the school, with a spokeswoman from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service saying the building was 'well alight' last night.
She said the fire involved the ground floor, first floor and roof space of the school building and affected around 60% of the school building.
This morning, the fire service said the fire had been started deliberately.

The building is currently disused after Glyn Derw pupils moved into Michaelston Community College over Christmas as part of a consolidation process ahead of the building of a new secondary school to serve the west of Cardiff.

The incident was still ongoing during the early hours of the morning as firefighters continued to battle the blaze.
The fire was the second huge blaze to hit Cardiff in one night after crews were called to a fire at a furniture warehouse in City Road, Roath, earlier on in the evening.
