Armed Police were called to a Cardiff Street on Friday morning, near the site of a devastating fire just hours earlier.
Bedford Road was being used as a diversion as people were turned away from City Road
Officers were called to an address on Bedford Street in Roath at around 7.30am following reports of a public disturbance.
A 26-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
Onlookers described seeing smashed glass and blood near the scene.
Caitlin Rowlands, 22, a barista at AJ’s Coffee House on City Road, also said: “I live on Bedford Street and in the house opposite me this morning I saw a man hovering out the window.
“It looked like all his furniture had been thrown out of the window on to the street. About 12 policemen had turned up in riot gear.
“They said he called them but wouldn’t let them in.”
Bedford Street, which was itself being used to divert traffic from City Road - wherefirefighters were investigating a warehouse blaze - was also closed by officers on Friday morning causing further traffic chaos in the city.
Armed police officers were deployed to the area as a precaution to ensure the safety of the public and officers.
Paramedics also later attended the scene.
