A couple had a lucky escape after a fire broke out in their bedroom during the early hours of this morning.
The flat on Lloyd Street, Llandudno caught fire after a cigarette was left burning and ignited the bedroom curtains.
The couple, who alerted North Wales Fire and Rescue Service at 1.50am today (October 3) managed to get out of the building unharmed.
No other rooms in the flat were damaged.
Two appliances from Llandudno rushed to the scene, taking just under half an hour to tackle the blaze.
The fire service called for an ambulance to be sent to the scene, but it was not required.
A spokesman from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was accidental and was caused by a cigarette.
“The two people involved were not transported to hospital – the ambulance was cancelled prior to arrival.
“Smoke alarms save lives and give you extra time to escape in the event of a fire in the home.
